Ingredient sourcing
Choosing ingredients with care
Seasonality, freshness and thoughtful quantities matter more than a long shopping list.

Start with what is already there
Before shopping, look through your fridge and cupboards. Plan around ingredients that need using soon, while respecting use-by dates and storage instructions. MaisonPalate recipes never require a shopping trip: sourcing is a choice for your next shop, not a condition for tonight’s meal.
Let the season guide you
Seasonal produce can offer good flavour and value. Availability depends on where you live. Ask a local grower or greengrocer what is in season, and choose ingredients you genuinely enjoy cooking.
Buy the quantity you will use
A beautiful ingredient is wasted if it never reaches the plate. Buy smaller quantities of highly perishable foods when that suits your household. Frozen vegetables can be a practical option too. Follow the package instructions for storage and cooking.
Care continues at home
Keep chilled food cold, separate raw foods from ready-to-eat foods, and follow labels. Thoughtful sourcing is as much about using food well as choosing where it comes from.
